There was once a lonely man. He hated being lonley, so he went a pet store and got a talking bird.
Weeks passed, and the bird said nothing. He went to the pet store and asked the clerk, "My bird wont talk. What should I get him to make him talk so I will not be lonely?". The clerk answerd "Oh, you should get a ladder, so he can be up on the top of everything. Then he will talk." "I don't know... maybe I should get some birdfood. He looks a bit hungry..." "Nonsense! The bird needs a ladder! In fact, I can save you some trouble, I have a ladder here, only $200!"
The man thought for a second. He wanted his bird to talk to him. "OK, I'll buy the ladder."
He went home with his ladder and put it up on the side of his house. He then had his bird fly up to the top of the ladder. Weeks passed and the bird still did not talk. The man went back to the store and asked the clerk, "My bird still won't talk, what should I get him?? I still think he looks a bit hungry." The clerk answerd, "Nonsense! What that bird needs is a mirror! An antique mirror! In fact, I have one right here, only $300!"
The man thought for a second. He wanted his bird to talk to him. "OK, I'll buy the mirror"
He went home with the mirror and put it up in on the top of the ladder. The bird looked into it, yet still said nothing. Weeks passed and the bird still did not talk. The man went back to the store and told the clerk, "My bird still won't talk, what should I do?" The clerk answerd, "He needs a brush. One in which he can brush his hair and look beautiful. Don't even think about birdfood. He dosn't need it. He needs a brush and I have one for only $100."
The man thought for a second. He wanted his bird to talk so badly that he bought the brush. He went home and handed it to the bird. The bird took one stroke on the top of his head with it, then fell backwards and hit the ground. The man looked at him in shock and asked, "What?! What's wrong?!" The bird opend his eyes a crack and whisperd, "Did they have an birdfood?"
