In my neighborhood, on the way home from school, a new stop light was built equipped with fancy walk signals for the pedestrians.
Walking home with a friend one day, we pushed the arrow button and waited for it to tell us when to cross.
When it was time, the box attached to the pole announced "It is now safe to cross. Please do so at this time."
My friend was utterly amazed. "Wow, it can talk!" she said. "Why?"
To this I answered, "Its for the people that cant see the signal, so they know when it's safe to cross the street."
She replied, "Ooooh, its for the deaf people!"
