Why is the third hand on the watch called the second hand? >It counts seconds. If a word is misspelled in the dictionary, how would we ever know? >Another dictionary. If Webster wrote the first dictionary, where did he find the words? >The dictionary isn't the source of our language. Why do "tug" boats push their barges? >They pull as well. Why do we sing "Take me out to the ball game" when we are already there? >The song was written by a man who wasn't at a ballgame. Why are they called "stands" when they are made for sitting? >They stand above the field to give a better view to those sitting in them. Why is it call "after dark" when it really is "after light"? >The moment it becomes dark and everything after is "after dark". Doesn't "expecting the unexpected" make the unexpected expected? >It means to keep an open mind and don't think you know what will happen. Why are a "wise man" and a "wise guy" opposites? >Wise guy is a slang term. If all the world is a stage, where is the audience sitting? >Its called poetry. Why do we put suits in garment bags and garments in a suitcase? >Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway? Why do we wash bath towels? Aren't we clean when we use them? >Bacteria grows on damp towels and need to be washed after every couple uses. Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle? >Glue reacts with air to solidify.

To the "after dark" one, it's because it's after the time it gets dark
