First, here's some insight to this true and funny story:
I'm deaf in my right ear, and I have less than 40-45% hearing in my left ear, plus I'm almost legally blind, so I wear contacts and a hearing aid. I learned to read lips to help understand what people say from a very young age.
One evening, some years ago, I had just taken my hearing aid and my contacts off, and was getting ready to go wash my face before going to bed, when my sister got my attention and was trying to tell me something.
Unable to read her lips, I stepped closer to her.
"What are you doing?" She asked me, a little confused.
"I can't hear you, I don't have my contacts on." I replied.
This still gets a big laugh out of me and my mother when she retells this story to others.
